I went in to return a pair of shoes that had very badly cut into my ankle. The shoes felt okay trying them on but over the course of an hour they rubbed persistently and slowly and caused massive blisters. When I saw how badly the shoes had hurt my ankles, I looked closer and the heel curves around at a sharp angle at the top and there's no padding so I had a point of hard fabric jutting right into the back of my foot. (BTW: Boxfresh shoes, they look good but don't buy them).
So I tried returning them. The assistants were incredibly unhelpful and only phoned up someone at my insistence. The person they called wasn't even a superior, just another store. I pressed that they should call their head office but it was clear that the assistant 'helping' me had already decided that I didn't 'deserve' exchanging my shoes. The call to the head office was no better - the best I could do, apparently, was to send the shoes to one of the chain's co-owners for 'evaluation'. Gee, I wonder what possible conclusion he might decide? COULD it be possible that I might have to waste my own money and time before being told that the co-owner didn't feel I merited an exchange of shoes!
It would be one thing if I just didn't like the colour or style but the back of my new shoes are stained with large blots of my own blood. The assistant claimed that I had to break them in - NO shoe should ever cause that much damage, no matter how new (oh, and they are the right size and shape - it's just the poorly designed back).
Any product that not only doesn't serve its intended purpose and/or causes harm to the user is FAULTY. I will follow this up with Fair Trading but people should know about not just about tReds but Boxfresh as well..
